WARNING TO THE GRID: Marc Márquez’s Comeback Could Change Everything at Mugello
The MotoGP paddock may want to pay very close attention — because Marc Márquez is slowly getting closer to a return, and history has already shown what happens when he feels physically comfortable on a motorcycle.
After undergoing surgery on his right shoulder, the eight-time world champion is continuing his rehabilitation process carefully and methodically. His main target remains the iconic Italian Grand Prix at the legendary Mugello Circuit on May 31.
Next week will be crucial for Márquez’s recovery journey. The Spaniard is scheduled for another medical check-up in Madrid, where doctors will evaluate the progress of his rehabilitation. If he receives medical clearance, he is expected to begin intensive physical training immediately and attempt to return to the bike before Mugello.
But Márquez and his team are refusing to repeat the mistakes of the past.
The six-time MotoGP world champion has openly admitted he does not want to rush his comeback after what happened during his difficult 2020 injury recovery — a period that ultimately turned into one of the toughest chapters of his career. This time, patience is the priority.
If doctors believe additional recovery time is necessary, his return could be delayed until the Hungarian Grand Prix in June, a circuit considered less physically demanding than Mugello.
Still, even while recovering, Márquez has already shown flashes of the terrifying speed that made him one of the greatest riders in MotoGP history.
During the Le Mans Q1 session, he delivered a small but powerful reminder of what he is capable of when confidence and rhythm begin to return. And honestly, that alone should already be a warning sign for the rest of the grid.
Because when Marc Márquez feels good physically, he becomes dangerous very quickly.
And if Mugello ends up being the stage for his full comeback, the championship fight may suddenly become far more complicated for everyone else.
