Netflix Announces New Rihanna Documentary: “Shine Forever” to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of a Global Icon
In a heartfelt tribute to one of the most influential artists of the 21st century, Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a powerful documentary titled “Shine Forever: The Rihanna Story.” The film promises to capture the remarkable journey of Robyn Rihanna Fenty — from her humble beginnings in Barbados to her reign as a global music, fashion, and cultural icon.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ava Thornton, “Shine Forever” delves into the untold stories behind Rihanna’s rise to fame, her resilience in the face of personal and professional challenges, and her evolution into a billionaire entrepreneur and humanitarian. The documentary combines exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and never-before-seen home videos, painting an intimate portrait of the woman behind the superstar.
Netflix described the project as “a celebration of strength, creativity, and the power of self-expression.” Executive producer Jordan Matthews noted,
“Rihanna’s influence goes far beyond music. She’s redefined what it means to be fearless, to be authentic, and to use fame as a force for change. This documentary is our way of honoring that legacy.”
The film will reportedly feature commentary from family members, close friends, and collaborators, including Jay-Z, Beyoncé, A$AP Rocky, and fashion designer Adam Selman. It will also spotlight Rihanna’s groundbreaking ventures — from Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty to her philanthropy through the Clara Lionel Foundation.
Fans can expect a soundtrack featuring some of her greatest hits, along with unreleased demo recordings from early in her career.
Set for global release on Netflix in February 2026, “Shine Forever” aims to inspire viewers by chronicling Rihanna’s evolution from a teenage dreamer in Bridgetown to a living legend whose influence continues to transcend borders, genres, and generations.
