LOS ANGELES – Netflix has officially released its highly anticipated original documentary film Beyond the Voice, a cinematic deep dive into the life, artistry, and cultural impact of global icon Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay, Beyond the Voice goes far beyond the stage lights and Grammy trophies to reveal a rarely seen side of the music legend. Through exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and deeply personal moments, the documentary paints an intimate portrait of Beyoncé not just as a performer, but as a mother, a businesswoman, a humanitarian, and a woman determined to leave a lasting legacy.
The film traces her evolution from a Houston church choir singer to the commanding force behind visual albums like Lemonade and Renaissance, with commentary from close collaborators, family members, cultural critics, and fellow artists including Adele, Jay-Z, Viola Davis, and Kendrick Lamar.
“This isn’t just about the music. It’s about the woman who changed what music could mean,” says DuVernay in a press statement. “Beyond the Voice is a celebration of vulnerability, of resilience, and of power reclaimed.”
One of the documentary’s most emotional moments includes never-before-seen home videos and studio sessions where Beyoncé speaks candidly about fame, identity, and the cost of perfectionism. It also explores her activism, from launching scholarships for young Black creatives to headlining historic performances like Coachella 2018.
Netflix, which previously partnered with Beyoncé on 2019’s Homecoming, reportedly worked closely with the artist over the last two years to ensure creative control and authenticity.
Social media erupted after the film’s release at midnight. Fans praised the documentary for its honesty and elegance. #BeyondTheVoice has already begun trending worldwide, with many hailing it as “Beyoncé’s most revealing project yet.”
As of this morning, Beyond the Voice holds a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is being called a front-runner for next year’s Emmy Awards.
Now streaming exclusively on Netflix, Beyond the Voice is not just a film—it’s an experience. One that invites viewers to see the soul behind the superstar.
