Summary of The Secret Queen?

Lia had spent years being complimented purely on her appearance, so she was eager to start over. up until she was abducted and placed in the harem of an unidentified ruler. Lia, who is in need of help and is terrified, strikes a bargain with Karian, the cruel but attractive regent for the king, who is curiously drawn to her. Will Lia be able to maintain her status as Karian’s consort long enough to look for the assassin hiding among them? And if she succeeds, will that provide her with the leverage she needs to flee?

 Of all things, Lia was flattered by how he tried to understand her without judging her. She liked him immediately, but also she needed him in order to stay alive and to get close enough to find out who killed his king, so for many days she played a role.
