MAFS Expert Mel Schilling Shares Heartbreaking Cancer Update: “My Light Is Starting to Fade”

Fans of Married At First Sight have been left heartbroken after relationship expert Mel Schilling revealed a devastating new update about her battle with cancer.

Taking to Instagram in an emotional post, the television personality shared that the cancer she was first diagnosed with in 2023 has now spread to her brain, leaving doctors with no further treatment options.

Schilling explained that her journey began in December 2023, when doctors discovered a tumor in her colon during a scan. The tumor which she nicknamed “Terry” — was successfully removed, and at the time she believed the worst was behind her.

However, during a routine scan in February 2024, doctors discovered small nodules in her lungs. The cancer had metastasized, dramatically changing the course of her battle.

Despite the setback, Schilling continued fighting with remarkable strength. While still working on Married At First Sight Australia, she underwent 16 rounds of chemotherapy and was later offered a place in a groundbreaking clinical trial designed for her specific genetic profile.

The trial was scheduled to begin in March 2026, giving her renewed hope that she might finally overcome the disease.

But over the Christmas period, Schilling began experiencing alarming symptoms, including severe headaches and numbness down one side of her body. After further tests, doctors confirmed that the cancer had spread to the left side of her brain.

Although she underwent radiotherapy, her oncology team recently delivered the devastating news that no further treatments are available.

In her emotional message, Schilling wrote that hearing those words changed everything.

She admitted that everyday tasks have become incredibly difficult and that she now relies heavily on the love and support of her family.

“I honestly don’t know how long I have left,” she wrote, adding that she will continue to fight for as long as she can.

Despite the heartbreaking reality she now faces, Schilling expressed deep gratitude to the fans who have supported her throughout her journey. She said the messages of encouragement she received helped give her the mindset and strength to keep fighting.

She also left followers with a powerful message about the importance of paying attention to their health.

“If something doesn’t feel right, please get it checked out,” she urged. “It might just save your life.”

The update has sparked an outpouring of love from viewers around the world, many of whom have followed Schilling’s work for years on Married At First Sight Australia and admired her compassion and guidance for couples on the show.

As tributes and messages of support continue to pour in, fans are rallying around the beloved expert sending strength, prayers, and gratitude for the impact she has made both on and off the screen.
