Former MAFS Star Lucinda Light Addresses Rumours She’s Replacing Mel Schilling As An Expert
Rumours have been swirling among fans of Married at First Sight Australia after beloved relationship expert Mel Schilling announced she would be stepping away from the show but former bride Lucinda Light has now spoken out about speculation that she might be stepping into the role.
In a heartfelt message shared with fans, Lucinda acknowledged the wave of support she has received since the news about Mel’s departure began circulating. Many viewers had suggested she would be a natural fit for the expert panel thanks to her emotional intelligence and calming presence during her time on the hit reality series.
“It’s been a real heart-tug hearing that the radiant Mel Schilling is stepping away from MAFS Australia,” Lucinda wrote. “What a force. What a woman. She leaves very big shoes to fill.”
Lucinda admitted she has been deeply touched by the number of people who reached out encouraging her to take over the role.
“Since the news dropped, I’ve had a wave of gorgeous messages asking if I’d consider stepping into her role. I’m deeply touched and truly mean that. The faith people have in me is not lost on me,” she said.
However, the former bride quickly clarified that she is not currently in the running for the position — at least not right now.
Lucinda explained that she is currently in London filming the reality series Celebs Go Dating and focusing on personal growth rather than stepping into a major expert role.
“But let’s be honest… I’m very single,” she joked. “And currently in London filming Celebs Go Dating and very much in student mode. I’m learning, unlearning, stretching, laughing at myself and soaking up wisdom from the agency.”
Despite the speculation, Lucinda made it clear she has nothing but admiration for Mel and wishes her well as she moves into the next phase of her life and career.
“I’m sending Mel big love for her next chapter… may it be expansive, healing and grounding,” she added.
Lucinda also expressed confidence that the production team behind Married at First Sight Australia will eventually find the right person to take on the important role.
“I’ve no doubt the brilliant execs and casting team at Nine Network have someone fabulous waiting in the wings for this mighty, meaningful role.”
For now, Lucinda appears focused on her own journey — embracing new experiences, learning about relationships from a different perspective, and continuing to charm fans with the same warmth and authenticity that made her one of the standout personalities of the series.
